Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
"Go there and make disciples for all nations....teaching them to observe all I have commanded you".(Matthew 28:19fl)
The Rite of Christian Initiation is a process whereby individuals interested in exploring the Catholic faith have an opportunity to walk "The Catholic Walk" over a period of time and if they so choose be initiated fully into the Catholic Community.Sessions are held on Wednesday evenings beginning at the end of August each year.
Source materials in these sessions come primarily from the Bible (http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible/) and The Catechism of the Catholic Church (http://www.christusrex.org/www1/CDHN/ccc.html ).A significant feature of the process is participation at Liturgy of the Word each Sunday. To prepare for the Liturgy familiarity with the Readings is helpful. The following web-site is useful in this regard, http://liturgy.slu.edu/For more detailed information go to http://www.shc.edu/theolibrary/rcia.htm.
